By the age of 2, my eldest son Soham learned the difference between what I termed as “Good Food”- foods plucked directly from nature- versus “Fun Food” – foods altered in some way making it processed. He was taught at this impressionable age to exercise sound choices between his Body’s need to eat Good Food vs. his Brain’s want to eat Fun Food. By the age of 4, he was able to recognize and understand the ingredients and nutrition facts listed on food items. His baby brother Sanmay, is already learning to make the same wise choices. Soham and Sanmay are not special nor gifted to have learned nutritional concepts. Like any other children their age, they are full of mischief and rambunctious, constantly pushing parental boundaries and testing their own. But as their Mother, I felt it crucial to instill an unshakeable foundation of good health, so that as teenagers and adults, they would not suffer the same fate as millions do around the world…living with chronic illness and disease. Instead, creating and stacking a balanced lifestyle has set them on a upward trajectory for the best, most optimal and fruitful life.
We live in a World where the Food Industry’s priority is to drive unhealthy diets by selling highly processed foods to fulfill children and adult appetites alike. Ask yourself the last time you saw a tv commercial about whole foods. You haven’t. That’s because “Bad” Food is Good for Business. When my children inspired me to create Live Stacked, it was with the belief that if 2 toddlers can learn the foundations of good health and wellness, then ANYONE can at any age!. And changing the way YOU think about Food is where it begins!
